About the Foundation

The Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation, which began in 1980, is the custodian for all financial gifts and bequests to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. It is an independent, non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable corporation. Its board members are community leaders charged with overseeing fund-raising projects and managing the Foundation's assets in ways that enhance the quality of healthcare in our region.

The Foundation supports Pitt County Memorial Hospital through equipment purchases, capital construction, research, education, patient and family support, community benefits and health initiatives.

The Reason
In a rapidly changing healthcare environment, hospitals face the challenge of providing patients with highest quality care in the most cost-effective manner. And, providers are working to improve the health status of the communities they serve. Pitt Memorial has been a leader in this area -- not only by providing excellent, cost-conscious care, but also by offering innovative programs in wellness, home health and outpatient care. But the hospital cannot do it alone. Today, more than ever, our health system needs private donations from people in the communities we serve.

The Benefits
Personal joy and satisfaction are probably the greatest benefits you receive when you give to the Foundation. In addition, your gift is tax deductible, so your contribution reduces your taxable income or estate tax. Donors also receive selected hospital publications and are invited to special events sponsored by the Foundation and by Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
